All aboard "Sauna on Wheels"!

Well, we slept in after our overly ambious day yesterday and didn't get started until about 10:00. We've loved staying at the Woodley Park Guest House. The staff is welcoming and the breakfast is fantastic.

Our first stop today was going to be the National Archives, which we ran out of time to see yesterday. But by the time we arrived, the line was snaked halfway around the building with a wait of over two hours. We decided this was not the way we wanted to spend our morning. So, we crossed the street to the National Museum of Art. The building was just as impressive as the art within it. I am already planning on going back again during the coming week. After the museum, we trekked to the nearest Metro to catch the "Circulator." Only a dollar a person each way to take you all the way to Georgetown. What a bargain!

The picture above is from our afternoon walk around Georgetown. We ate lunch at a Mexican restaurant near the river. It was another sunny, warm day, so it was perfect for being outside. They were even setting up for crew races as we were leaving. Georgetown existed before Washington D.C. was even the capital, so it is a town rich with history and a real colonial feel. There are many shops and amazing homes in this area. Someday, I could see myself living in Georgetown... haha $$.

Our return ride was once again, only a dollar, but this time it felt like a "sauna on wheels." I think we sweat off every pound we gained at lunch time! When we arrived back in the city, we went back to the National Archives and the line was much more manageable. We got through the doors in only 30 minutes. We enjoyed getting a glimpse of the Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Bill of Rights, and Magna Carta. We also walked through some of the other exhibits in the building. By this time, it was nearly 6:00 and we were ready to call it a day. We just finished dinner and are looking forward to some recovery time! Tomorrow we're getting out of the city and driving to Maryland to stay at a B & B on the Chesapeake Bay.

There's to be no moving to Georgetown without us! :) We're glad you guys are having such a good time- someday we'll have to make the trip with our families.
Thinking of you.
